Indigenous Taiwanese people are classified as Austronesians, one of the most dispersed groups of people around the world. The tide of 21st century modernity that is sweeping the globe threatens to engulf many of these ancient cultures, but there is a strong global movement to save as much from these unique micro-societies as possible.
