A hero's welcome for the man considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world — Manny Pacquiao.

The native son returned to the Philippines from Los Angeles, after defeating Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas on Sunday, winning his seventh world title.

After being welcomed home by thousands of fans, he made his priorities clear.

[Manny Pacquiao, Boxing Champion]:
"For now, I will take a vacation and rest. Just to be with my family is a big thing. And I will relax and let my swollen ear heal."

Soon he'll be preparing for a different kind of battle — trying for a second time to win a seat in the Philippine congress, after losing out in 2007.

Some fans say he should just stick to the boxing ring.

[Vic Francisco, Fan]:
"There's no need for him to run for politics. He can be his own boss. Even if he's not a politician or a leader, he can still help his fellowmen."

Another priority for the devout Catholic was to attend mass, where thousands waited outside the church as he took part in services inside.

The always-smiling Pacquiao said his boxing confidence stems from his faith and knowing that Filipino people are praying for him.
