Cricket enthusiasts might be pleased to know that sporting legends attended the unveiling of the World Cup’s new logo in India. The ceremony that celebrates India’s upcoming hosting of the games, included a mind-blowing digital presentation and cultural show.

Masses of Indian cricket fans are thrilled to hear that their country will host most of the 2011 World Cup matches in southern Asia.

The move recommended by the tournament's central organizing committee was celebrated by several former cricket sporting legends in Mumbai. Some of them include Clive Lloyd, Aravinda De Silva, Michael Bevan, Dilip Vengsarkar and Balwinder Singh Sandhu.

And the charm of a 50-over World Cup still appeals to players.

[Haroon Lorgat, ICC Chief Executive]:
"I'm engaged with the couple of players what a World Cup 50-over event means to them and without doubt in our minds as well the World Cup is the flagship event."

India will host 29 of the tournament's 49 matches, including a quarter-final, semi-final and final, after Pakistan was stripped of staging rights over security concerns.

Pakistan was initially allotted 14 matches, but they were redistributed with India getting eight of those matches. The Indian matches will be played across eight venues, Sri Lanka has 12 matches, including a semi-final, at three venues and Bangladesh with eight games at two venues.

[Ratnakar Shetty, Tournament Director]:
"The three host nations have borne the responsibility for the additional matches."

Pakistan, which technically continues to be a host, was invited to attend the meeting but went unrepresented.
