Two chefs at a Sydney café have created the world’s largest hamburger, hoping to cook their way into the Guinness Book of Records.

Joe and Iman El-Ajouz dished up the monster burger weighing 198 pounds in total. The previous record was set at 185 pounds in the U.S. state of Michigan.

The mammoth burger took 24 hours to create, using nearly 180 pounds of minced meat held together with 120 eggs.

The bun took about 45 pounds of bread and was garnished with nearly four-and-half pounds of lettuce, 16 tomatoes, three-and-half pounds of beetroot and 150 slices of cheese.

For a finishing touch, they added about a pound of barbecue sauce

The burger will be on the menu at the café for the next year, but people will need to arrive with an empty stomach and a full wallet. The burger costs about $1,200.
