New York—home to some of the world’s most luxurious hotels.
And if sleep is your main priority after you check in, Benjamen’s has a sleep concierge to make sure everything is “dreamy” for the guests.
[Anya Orlanska, Hotel’s Sleep Concierge]:
“Three days before they arrive we send our guests an email, asking them about their pillow preferences.”
Guests can choose from 12 pillows, including an anti-snore; satin, said to reduce wrinkles; and the Swedish memory designed by NASA.
Anya says their I-pod pillow is popular with teenagers.
[Anya Orlanska, Hotel’s Sleep Concierge]:
“Because the I-pod pillow has speakers built inside the pillow, so you can sleep on your pillow not touching anything. It's still a nice soft pillow, and you here your music from far behind.”
This week is National Sleep Awareness Week. On top of the usual pillow menu, the Benjamin has a nightly pajama party, champagne, and tasty delights that can help you sleep better.
But all-year-round guests can order special sleep-promoting food, like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on banana bread. Anya says this combination can help your brain produce serotonin.
[Anya Orlanska, Hotel’s Sleep Concierge]:
“Serotonin slows down the nerves in your brain. That helps you sleep a little better.”
Sleep researchers have associated good sleep patterns with increased productivity and job satisfaction.
