Haiti Food Handouts for Women Only

A new kind of relief effort in Haiti — call it for women only. Some relief agencies are now handing out relief to women only, believing that women will get the food to those who need it most.
[Haitian Woman]:
"I feel very good because this time they gave us enough food."
With food handouts often favoring the young and the swift, some of the elderly, the sick and mothers carrying small children have often been left empty-handed. Some handouts have become dangerous.
More than two weeks after the quake that killed as many as 200,000 Haitians and left up to 1 million homeless, the U.S.-led relief effort is struggling to supply food to everyone who needs it and keep hungry people's anger from erupting into violence.
