It's been a long journey for these Haitian children.

Now in the United States they're about to start a new life with their adoptive parents.

"Because of the earthquake, the children were released to the parents that had homes waiting for them and we are very thankful and excited to have two new children.''

Around 80 orphans arrived in Miami where anxious parents were waiting to meet them.

The children are from an orphanage in Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince ravaged by the recent earthquake.

Some of the families here were overjoyed their children survived the disaster.

"This is our little miracle boy right here. He just came in early this morning from Haiti. We've been in the adoption process for over two years and we've known about this little guy for about six months and thought we'd be in it for a long haul -- thought we had a long wait in front of us -- but, because of the earthquake, things changed and we were able to bring him home sooner than we expected."

"We got here, of course, after the earthquake and we were devastated. We were scared whether she was alive or not, and then we were worried about our paperwork."

In France around 30 children were fast tracked through the French system after the earthquake, the worst natural disaster since the 2004 Indonesian tsunami.

Parents waited anxiously to meet the new additions to their families.

Some were overcome with emotion.

Among those also welcoming the toddlers was was France's first lady Carla Bruni.
