Fifty teams participate in the soapbox cars race, a world wide tradition sponsored by the energy drink company "Red Bull."

Participants display cars with creative artwork, ranging from vehicles designed as oxen and chickens, to vehicles inspired by TV's "The Power Rangers".

The soapbox race is considered a modern imitation of the carts which American children used to build from used soap boxes during the 1920's.
  
Race participants are judged according to their vehicle's design, originality and speed.
