Members of Indonesia’s ethnic Chinese community are ringing in the Year of the Tiger. At one mall in Jakarta, they held an event they call “I Love Chinese New Year.” The word “love” was used because New Year’s Day also happened to be Valentine’s Day.

Their performances include drama, traditional Chinese singing and dancing.

[Longines Roger Tamio, Head of IKOCI]:
“We do this to expose the culture, which is our nation’s asset. We combined it with the theme of ‘I Love Chinese New Year’ with Valentine’s.”

Hundreds of red envelopes, a ceremonial gift during Chinese New Year, as well as chocolate were given to the people who attened.
