The glitz and glamour of the red carpet.
Now princesses and paupers can savour this aura – in a new perfume.
The Sun newspaper has launched “Buzz”, a scent which it says encompasses the allure of the red carpet.
Perfumier Roja Dove says the perfume needed to have a sense of excitement and anticipation – which he believes he’s captured.
[Roja Dove, Perfumier]:
"I wanted to make something that was ultra feminine but not girlie, I wanted a womanly scent, so I used certainly a lot of floral materials to do that. And then to give the idea of the glamour, sort of vanilla woodnote, in particular sandalwood which really makes the scent linger."
And Dove thinks that dipping into the world of perfume is a great focus for the newspaper.
[Roja Dove, Perfumier]:
"The Sun has an enormously broad readership, has an incredibly high A-B readership too and I think a great scent should be available for everybody. I think one of the things that will surprise people when they smell it, it's not how they would imagine it to be but for anybody who knows me, it's exactly how they imagine it will be, so it's not dumbed down."
We asked people in London what they think of “Buzz”
[Jamel, from London]:
"It smells really nice, it smells like my grandma."
[Joy and Pam, from Bristol]:
“Yes I like it very much”
[Adam, from Paris]:Q: Does it make you think of the red carpet?“No, no, sorry.”
[Debra, from London]:
“The Sun newspaper is making perfume? I think they should stick to journalism.”
And if journalism is not enough for the Sun, “Buzz” might create enough of a stink for the tabloid.
