Simple and elegant, refined and sharp – the black dress is found in most wardrobes. Putting on their own versions, Kyiv fashionistas gathered to celebrate their favorite black dress on the bank of the Dniepro River.

Now this dress is in the collections of almost all designers. But in the mid-1920's, the black dress was not popular when Coco Chanel created it. It was because the color black was associated with mourning and usually worn at funerals. Chanel created a black dress that went down to the knees, had a round neckline, narrow sleeves and a drop waist.
 
However, today’s fashion calls for black dresses that flatter different body types and satisfy different tastes. Some dresses are sleeveless, while others have frills and lace.
 
Designer Elena Ivanova says a black dress should be worn with accessories.

"Large accessories are very much in: large stones, natural stones, unpolished stones, and all of them can be worn around the neck, somewhere on the arms. And a black dress is the foundation."
 
Some fashion models enjoy wearing the black dress.

However, not all men are fascinated by the black dress.
