Kiev Street Turned into Unique Park

This alleyway is one of Kiev’s residents’ favorite spots. With its great view of the city, it now sports a new public park dotted with animal sculptures.
With the help of construction workers, artist Konstantin Skritutsky has blended his animal sculptures in with the alley itself.
[Konstantin Skritutsky, Sculptor]:
“My goal was to make sculptures that would not only attract attention, but would let the public interact with them.”
For example, he made a cat-shaped bench using a metal frame, concrete and mosaic.
[Konstantin Skritutsky, Sculptor]:
“I’ve used ceramic teeth for the eyes. This is a beer bottle, smashed and melted in an oven.”
And his cheerful birds provide illumination for passers-by.
[Julia Polishchuk, Landscape Designer]:
"We also have a snake. It’s made from two colored yellow stones. You can see it all through the park.”
The place is popular with visitors. The elephant fountain is a hit.
[Katherine Goroshko, Visitor]:
“A great park, a beautiful idea, the animals are funny and cute. We'll come here again.”
[Irina Budanskaya, Visitor]:
“It’s wonderful that such a site has popped up here! This place is amazing. It’s a magical place here, especially for the children.”
The artist will have another opening in spring with all his sculptures completed.
