Face-lift for Kosovo

This TV advert shows the image Kosovans want the world to see: youthful, full of vitality and deserving a fresh start.

Kosovo is spending six million euros on a publicity campaign to lure new investment. 

The ads have been produced by an Israeli company to appear in European countries and the United States. 

Kosovo has one of the youngest populations in Europe, but 40 per cent unemployment. 

It suffered badly fighting Serbia in the Balkan wars of the 1990s.

Now Kosovans want to leave behind their reputation for instability and corruption.

"I had the opportunity as a sportsman or as table-tennis player to represent Kosovo our country in the world and I saw that there are some bad images from the war and this advertisement showed that Kosovo is free and independent and with interesting great youth."

[Blerona Zymberi, Student]:
"I think that improvement of the image is good, so we can show the world that we are just like you and we have a potential to make it."

Kosovo is hoping its bright but cheesy TV production will bring dividends.
