At least four people were killed when a building gave way on the Spanish island. Officials said two women, a man and a child were among the dead.

This man said he thought there'd been an explosion.

[Resident]:
"We heard the rubbish truck then we felt an explosion - a collapse or loud noise - and there was a lot of dust. It almost looked like smoke as if there was a fire. Later we came here and saw that everything had collapsed."

Local media reports suggest two people are still missing and residents in neighboring buildings were evacuated.

As rescuers sifted through the rubble the cause of the deadly collapse remains unknown.
