Another tainted milk scandal in China—officials removed dairy products contaminated with melamine from stores throughout Guizhou Province. The tainted milk products were dated from early 2009.
The Chinese regime announced this latest melamine scandal on Monday, immediately casting doubt on the effectiveness of their regulation on the dairy industry.
Among the big three offending dairy companies named by officials is Laoting Kaida Refrigeration, a company that was directly connected to the first melamine scandal in 2008. At that time state-run media reported six children died and 300,000 more fell ill from ingesting the poisoned milk.
Dairy producers add melamine to watered-down milk to boost nitrogen levels, which makes their products appear to contain more protein.
