Now we bring you a story on a Chinese magazine that’s received a heavy setback.
On Monday the Editor-in-Chief of the finance magazine, Caijing resigned. Mr. Hu Shuli founded the magazine in1998 to become one of the most independent publications inside China.
Hu resigned one month after Caijing’s general manager and about 60 other staff stepped down.
Apparently the mass exodus was prompted by increasing pressure from Caijing’s state-run owners. They want Caijing to tone down its aggressive reporting on so-called “sensitive” issues like corruption, pollution and workers rights.
The Associated Press reports that Hu left because Caijing’s owners refused to give editorial staff more pay and greater authority over content.
