Hefei Party Officials Attack Hotel Staff

2009-06-02 11:08

In mainland China two hotel workers are in the hospital after a violent scene broke out in Heifei Province’s capital city of Anhui. 10 local communist party officials booked a room at one area hotel, but were short about 40 yuan. The hotel staff said the group had to pay then and there when the violence began. Here’s more.

At the Ban Mu Tian Hotel several Hefei Province Party officials beat up a waitress and a chef at the reception desk, seriously injuring the two workers. The officials involved include local one child policy vice-director Ye Xianlin, Xiaomiao finance official Li Ming, Zhugang village vice director Li Xuewen, and Dabai village official Zhou Xianbao. There were 10 men in all along with two women who booked just one room at the hotel.

The hotel security camera recorded the scene, which lasted for ten minutes. Several of the Party officials kicked hotel chef Wang Lei. Local one child policy vice-director Ye Xianlin kicked waitress Chen Hui from behind, causing her to fall to the ground. She is currently hospitalized and cannot move. Chef Wang Lei received injuries to his head. There is a long scar near his ear. Both have injuries all over their bodies.

All this is difficult for hotel manager Zhu Guihong to bear.

[Zhu Guihong, Hotel Manager]:
“This is simply not something a human will do, not to mention that they are civil servants.”

All videos of the fights on most mainland websites and blogs have been mysteriously deleted. One blog in Hefei deleted all comments condemning the violence and refers to the officials as “the best public officials in 2009.”
