In India’s Pune City, the kin of the victims of the Air India flight, 182, demanded a thorough probe into the bombing of the flight in 1985.

A suitcase bomb destroyed the plane off Ireland's Atlantic coast on June 23, 1985, while the aircraft was en route from Canada to India via London. Many of the victims were Canadian citizens returning to India to visit relatives.

Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, declared that the bombing case would be investigated thoroughly and all questions answered.

[Sanjay Lazer, Petitioner in the Kanishka Bombing Case]:
“Prime Minister Stephen Harper has made it public that they will look at the report very closely and they will address the issues that Justice John Major has put down, especially with regard to security safety, addressing the needs of the family, and revisiting the issue of compensation.”

The reports presented by the head of the inquiry commission Justice John convinced the Canadian government to accept their "cascading series of errors."

The victim’s relatives say no amount of money can ever be enough to make up for the loss of their loved ones.

[H. Kishie Singh, Friend of Victim]:
"These people have to be brought to book. They have to be made to answer for what they did and they should not be spared."

The attack is widely thought to be the work of Canadian-based Sikhs fighting for an independent homeland in India, who wanted revenge for India's deadly 1984 storming of the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
