Supply lines were disrupted in the Darjeeling district in West Bengal state on Thursday following a landslide on national highway 55.
The landslide destroyed a 69 feet of the road. But no casualties have been reported.
Incessant rainfall in the area caused the soil to loosen up and the boulders came rolling down the hills, blocking the road. Communication has been cut off in area.
Locals are trying to repair the road and say no authorities are looking into the problem.
Landslides in the area are a common problem during the monsoon season.
