[Prijanto , Vice Governor, Jakarta]:
“I hope these events can attract tourists from local and foreign countries. With their visits, we can get many advantages. For example in the hotel business, or restaurant business, if the tourists buy handicraft from our local entrepreneur, it means their handicraft also can be known widely. There are so many advantages.”
An Indonesian singer, Uut Permatasari, attended the opening ceremony. Permatasari shares her personal hope for Jakarta City which will soon be 483 years old.
[Uut Permatasari, Indonesian Dangdut Singer]:
“I hope everybody who enters Jakarta can feel safe and secure. I hope Jakarta City can continue its eco-friendly efforts - and one other thing - I hope everybody can conserve the traditional culture of Jakarta. We must take care of our traditional culture. We must remember and appreciate it because it’s the inheritance from our ancestors.”
“Jakarta” is short for “Jayakarta”, meaning “the city of victory” or “the city of glory”.
