Eight is considered by many Chinese to be an auspicious number that brings good luck.
So Universal Studios chose to open its fourth theme park at precisely 8:28 a.m. on March 18, after 18 Chinese lions blazed through the entrance at 08:08 a.m.
Universal, one of America's oldest film studios, has been opening theme parks based on the popular movies they've produced since 1964.
The new park is part of the $4.4 billion Resort World at Sentosa, and includes attractions from DreamWorks animated films such as the world's first Shrek theme castle and the world's tallest dueling roller coaster.
There are also live action shows full of stunts.
[Patt Millicano, Waterworld Producer and Director]:
"So I think that the level of stunts and the level of action that we have on the show talk to anybody from anywhere.”
Some visitors said they were waiting for months for the park to open.
[Kamal, Park Visitor]:
"We have been waiting it for months, since the starting of the year, so we waited like three hours to get a ticket, some of our friends got it, so we are quite thrilled to be here."
The park is expecting four-and-a-half million visitors a year.
