2010-03-12 11:54

On Friday, twin suicide bombings killed at least 39 people, including soldiers, and injured nearly 100 in Pakistan’s Lahore City. Authorities suspect that the attack targeted the military.

[Sohail Sukhera, Senior Police Official]:
"We are not sure about the exact scene but it appears it's a suicidal attack, probably two of them, and it is close to bus stand. So, there may be casualties. We are not sure about the numbers, and there are certainly seriously injured people. We will have the details in about 10 to 15 minutes."

Another police official says the suicide bombers attacked two military vehicles.

There have been five blasts in Pakistan this week alone, including a car bomb suicide attack on a police intelligence building in Lahore on Monday, and a shooting and bombing at a U.S.-based aid agency in the northwest.
