U.S.-South Korea Joint Military Drills Continue

Joint military drills continue with U.S. and South Korean troops outside of Seoul. In their latest exercise… a mock street fight at Rodriguez Range in Pochen, north of Seoul.

Five armored vehicles also joined in to demonstrate machine gun firing skills.

[Lieutenant Jonathan Joseph, U.S. Marine Corp]:
“Today's training is a bilateral training between the ROK (Republic of Korea) marine corp. and the U.S. marine corp. and today's specific training is based on ‘MOUT,’ ‘MOUT’ operation which stands for ‘Military Operation in Urbanized Terrain.’”

The 10-day drills are aimed at testing the allies' defense readiness, include training the special forces to cope with North Korea’s nuclear arsenal.

This is the second time special nuclear units were deployed to participate in the drills.

The operations draw fiery responses from the North each year and fuel tensions on the Korean peninsula.

The two Koreas are technically still at war because their 1950-53 conflict ended with an armistice and not a peace treaty.
