A prolonged gun battle continues in the village of Dadsara in Indian Kashmir after militants opened fire at security forces Wednesday morning.
The incident took place after authorities received a tip-off, surrounding a house where the militants were hiding.
The village has now been cordoned off and armed security personnel are guarding the nearby forest as well.
[Prabhakar Tripathi, Central Reserve Police Force]:
"Right now, there are two militants armed with weapons because we have been engaged in a gun battle with them."
According to locals, one militant has been killed by security forces in the encounter.
Separatist insurgents, backed by Pakistan, have been fighting security forces in the Indian Himalayan region for the last 20 years.
