Indian Air Show Takes a Deadly Turn

2010-03-04 16:25

All seemed fine with the Sagar Pawan Acrobatic Team going through their paces at the India Aviation 2010 air show.

But as thousands of spectators looked on, one Indian Navy plane suddenly lost control and crashed.

A cloud of smoke marked the point of impact in a residential neighborhood in Hyderabad.

Both the pilot and co-pilot were killed and 4 others wounded when the Kiran MK-II failed to pull out from a dive and plummeted into the buildings.

Debris from the crash crushed a vehicle in the street below, and unconfirmed accounts say a civilian may also have died.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
