At least 18 passengers are dead in northern India after a tractor-trolley skidded off the road and fell into a ditch. It happened in the Sitapur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

It happened when the tractor driver was trying to overtake another vehicle and lost control.

Road accidents, mostly blamed on reckless driving, poorly maintained vehicles and bad roads, claim thousands of lives every year in India.
