A bomb went off in the busy Peepal Mandi market street in Peshawar.
Local newspapers put the death toll as high as 98.
Smoke was still bellowing out of the collapsed buildings Thursday, as machines cleaned up the rubble.
[Ayaz Khan, Angry Resident]:
"Whatever incidents are taking place every day, this is entirely un-Islamic. We Muslims should not do such work. Whoever has done this is not Muslim. The government should control this."
Late on Wednesday, October 28th, grieving relatives and friends buried some of those who lost their lives in the blast.
Adnan Khan, a worker at a shop that was destroyed, criticized the police.
[Adnan Khan, Shop Worker]:
"Our police, our security, they just set up pickets so that they can loot poor people who travel city to city to earn a livelihood. The police search them, 'you don't have card', they say, 'give us two thousand rupees.’ Our security forces are vigilant to collect money."
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Pakistani Taliban militants are suspected to be involved.
