The mission of Shen Yun Performing Arts is to restore China's traditional culture and arts, using the beauty of Chinese classical dance.
Retired school teacher Tony Pecci saw the show over the weekend at the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts in Worcester, Massachusetts.
[Tony Pecci, Retired School Teacher]:
"This was so graceful and lovely. The men are very acrobatic. I’m really enjoying it. The costumes, everything, the music, the singing. Everything is fantastic. I can’t believe it."
[Betty Loo Lambert, Retired School Teacher]:
"Their dances are so creative. And we could watch it all night. It was just wonderful. The music was beautiful also."
[Tyco Khamphavong, Software Company Consulting Team Director]:
"This was my first time watching this to see this real, real Chinese show. So very very impressive. Excellent."
[Sherri Griffin, Audience Member]:
"I think it’s fantastic. I have been wanting to see it for years and I’m really excited I am here."
[Angel Valdivia, Painting Company Owner]:
"They show us the different parts of China. What it is really. It is so nice. We are so happy, with my wife, my daughter and my son."
[Lipa, Scientist]:
"I have colleagues from China. They always mention that there are nice colorful shows here. So I came for the first time. It was really good."
[Kamal Shah, Engineer]:
"My eyes were opened throughout so there's a whole eye-opening moment every time. Some of the things that they did, especially throwing that handkerchief and catching it and synchonization of dance, the music and the body movements they are kind of going together, so they're exactly following the music so there is some thing there, there's a rhythm so I like it."
Judging from such a positive response, it seems that Shen Yun is able to remind us of our true dignity in a gentle and beautiful way.
