Former Marine Rudy Reyes was a member of the First Reconnaissance Battalion, considered one of the Marines’ most elite units. Now an actor, he played himself in the HBO miniseries “Generation Kill” about the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Reyes saw Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Kennedy Center last week. He says the show is magnificent.

“I was overwhelmed. It was beautiful, beautiful production. The joy of the performers, musicians, dancers, everyone. It was magnificent.”

Reyes says he sees a message of hope and redemption in the show.

[Rudy Reyes, Actor]:
“I need some of that hope and redemption. I need it personally, I mean I need it. I struggle actually. But it seems it’s right there waiting for me and that’s a beautiful message.”
