A Hong Kong couple welcomes one of the first "dragon babies" into the world. The rush to give birth in the auspicious lunar year is leading to hospital bed shortages, and stoking protests in the city.
The baby boy was born 20 minutes into the Year of the Dragon, although the couple said it wasn't intentional.
[Mr. Chui, Father]:
"I could never have imagined that the baby would make it out exactly at the start of the Year of the Dragon, on the very first day. We never thought it would happen like this."
Parents across Asia aspire to produce "dragon babies" in the hope that the symbol, long associated with emperors, power and intelligence, will bring wealth and luck.
