The Indian government has lodged a complaint with Chinese officials over the treatment of an Indian diplomat. The Indian Foreign Ministry says S. Balachandran, from the Indian consulate in Shanghai, was refused access to his diabetes medication. That was during a court hearing for two Indian businessmen in Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province. BBC News reported that Balachandran collapsed and had to be hospitalized. A Chinese diplomat told Reuters that Chinese authorities are investigating the situation. Balachandran is believed to be in stable condition—recuperating in a Shanghai hospital.
