China announces that it will invest another $10 billion into a water project this year. The goal is to move billions of tons of water from China’s south to the dry northern parts of the Mainland. So far, the project has cost $22 billion and 330-thousand people have been moved from their homes. It began in 2002 and is expected to be up and running by 2013. However, critics warn that the water project still won’t meet the demands of China’s north, and could cause environmental damage.
