Man's Hello Kitty Haircut Lifts Father's Winter Blues

Hello Kitty images decorated with hearts are commonly seen in fashion accessories for young girls in Taiwan, but rarely found as a haircut style, particularly for middle-aged men.

But Hu Han-gong, general manager of a machine lifting engineering company in Taiwan's northern Hsinchu County, decided to have his head shaved to look like Hello Kitty in order to lift his father's spirits, local media reported.

Hu said his 84-year-old father often feels gloomy in the cold winter, and he hoped his haircut would help cheer him up.

"This makes my father happier, you know, he laughed for many days."

The 50-year-old said he chose the image of Hello Kitty because it is popular, especially among his 14-child family.

Hu spent two hours at a hairdresser to create the look, and trims his hair every five days to keep the image clear.

He said people in his neighborhood often stop to have their photographs taken with him and his unusual hair.
