Jakarta Great Sale 2011 Commemorates the City's 484th Anniversary
Themed "Go Green," "Go Healthy", and "Jakarta as an International City," the Jakarta Great Sale 2011 was designed to showcase the Jakarta shopping centers' awareness of environmental issues.
Officially opened by Jakarta's Governor Fauzi Bowo at Gandaria City, Jakarta, the event hopes to make Jakarta a shopping paradise that is rich in both culture and lifestyle options.
Jakarta may be on its way to becoming a green and healthy international city.
The opening ceremony was punctualted by a fireworks display.
Sixty-eight malls are participating in the event, offering discounts from 10 to 70 percent.
Products range from local to internationally branded products.
Besides discounts, the malls are also offering special shopping incentives like Buy 1 Get 1 Free, and Midnight Sale.
There are also various events being held in the malls to attract visitors.
[Fauzi Bowo, Jakarta Governor]:
"I am with the board of parliament want to encourage business, so that Jakarta can grow into a shopping city. We are optimistic that at some point our Jakarta Great Sale will be able to compete with other international great sale events."
The Jakarta Great Sale is the promoted by Indonesia Shopping Center Management Association, in cooperation with Garuda Indonesia, the Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies and BCA credit card.
