Canada's leading art critic and world-renowned author John Grande, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts for this first time at Montreal's Place Des Arts.

He expressed his feelings of the dancers' elaborate dress:

[John Grande, Art Critic]:
"I find the costumes remarkable, and the decor, the water wings they call it, you know, and so on. And very dynamic."

He also shared what he felt about the depiction of different stories through Chinese history:

[John Grande, Art Critic]:
"I appreciate also the narration, that it tells a story. For instance the monks, when the monks dance, it tells a whole story through the body and also the action of all the different figures on stage. It’s very animated but visually delightful, also, visually delightful"

He appreciated the way Shen Yun presents societies, dynasties, and vast world's full of people all on the theater stage:

[John Grande, Art Critic]:
"Often the world we see in dance or in art, or writing, are small world's of inviduals. But here you see a world with a whole society, or a large number of people."

[John Grande, Art Critic]:
"A world we would like to live in but that is not always there so it is kind of, where we will be, in our imagination"
