Light shows and fireworks displays lit up the skies of Shanghai and Hong Kong on New Years Eve. The events attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors. In Shanghai, a 3D light show lit up the historic Bund, an area at the west bank of the Huangpu River famed for its Western style architecture. Many of Shanghai’s landmarks were also lit. Hong Kong celebrated the 2012 New Year with a spectacular fireworks show at Victoria Harbor, attracting 400-thousand visitors. The pyrotechnics display resembled a big dragon dancing along Hong Kong's skyline. 2012 is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac.
