Red Bull Snowscrapers Battle the Cold in New York

STORY:
Some of the world’s best snowboarders transcended ordinary human fears of height, speed and cold, to please thousands of youngsters gathered at New York’s
East River Park.
 
Battling it out for $50,000 dollars, world fame and glory, these riders have some big aspirations.
 
The event, Red Bull Snowscrapers, attracted snowboarding fans from all over the United States.

[CC Falcis, Snowboarding Fan]:
“We are having a rocking time. Just having a blast.”
 
Caped in Manhattan’s urban setting. The risk-taking riders dropped the huge 80-foot-long ramp which stood an immense nine-stories-tall.
 
After a 60-minute jam session eight riders went through to the final round.
 
[Ben Alek, Norwegian Snowboarder]:
“Oh it’s fun the jump is good now. Good speed too.”
 
Huge air and strenuous applause is what it is all about.
 
[Jennifer Lee, Architect]:
“This is definitely a lot cooler, with the urban background and everything. And everyone coming together in one place like this. It’s different than if you were at a resort or something.”
 
The cold was a little too much for some of the spectators, at a feet-freezing 5 degrees.
 
[Jacksun7, Rapper]:
“It’s cold. When you get hurt, it hurts even more in the cold.”
