Japan Zoo Chimp Makes Daring Break-out

WONG:
And one chimp in Japan is making the headlines. He can run, he can dodge and get around just about anything except one Japanese zookeeper. Let's take a look.

STORY:
He dodged darts from tranquillizer guns while seemingly mocking his foe—staff at Japan's Ishikawa Zoo. They were trying to catch this brazen chimpanzee, who had escaped from his pen.

The 42-year-old chimp named Ichiro climbed up onto a rooftop and refused to come down. Here he is sitting in the shade. Perhaps he was trying to get a bit of respite from the sweltering summer heat. Temperatures have reached over 95 degrees Fahrenheit this week.

One daring zookeeper climbed onto a ledge, hoping to get a better shot with his tranquilizer gun…but watch out! This chimp is apparently smarter than the average ape. He rips the gun out of the zookeeper's hands and throws it to the ground.

After an exhausting conquest, zookeepers are finally successful. They lure Ichiro down from the roof with a banana.
