WONG:
An update on election results in Zimbabwe. The opposition Movement for Democratic Change wants the court to order the release of presidential election results. The High Court was supposed to announce results yesterday, but delayed its ruling after four hours of legal argument from the electoral commission.
STORY:
On the streets of Harare, growing frustration among voters hasn't been helped by the high court's decision to delay a ruling on whether it can force the publication of Zimbabwe's presidential election results. A decision was expected on Sunday but the judge has put back any ruling at least until Monday after an electoral commission challenge to his jurisdiction in the case.
The opposition Movement for Democratic Change is demanding a court ruling because they fear President Robert Mugabe's ZANU-PF party is trying to find a way to rig the results.
[Nelson Chamisa, MDC Spokesman]:
"They wanted to manipulate the vote, they failed to manipulate the vote. Now what they're trying to do is to find a back-door route to try to reverse the people's will. We are not going to accept that nonsense. People have voted, people have declared they don't want ZANU-PF."
Meanwhile fears of violence and intimidation are on the rise following the re-appearance of militant liberation war veterans, often used by Mugabe as political shock troops.
